Environmental Policy

We take our responsibility to the environment very seriously:

  • We are establishing ourselves as a carbon neutral company whereby any carbon emissions produced by the vessels engines is offset by investment into sustainable green forests to absorb such emissions. On a busy day we consume hundreds of litres of fuel and we strongly believe that this must be environmentally accountable.
  • We are currently being assessed for the Green Dragon Award, which is an environmental award offered by the Welsh Development Agency.
  • We are accredited Wildlife Safe operator (Wise) and adhere to Ceredigion County Council Commercial Passenger Boat Code of Conduct. We then apply our local knowledge and establish our own policy whereby the sanctity of the wildlife has a better need than obtrusive observation.
  • Our skippers are also British Divers Marine Mammal Rescue trained Medics.
  • Our engines are state-of-the-art computer controlled 2 strokes with ultra low emissions (Year 2008 Compliant) and are also extremely quiet.
  • Our vessels operate with 2 engines running simultaneously at slightly different speeds to reduce the risk of underwater acoustic simple harmonics.
  • We ensure that all our personnel have a strong local bias in that they are interested in protecting our maritime heritage.
  • Our skippers are trained in cetacean rescue, which means we are able to help stranded cetaceans such as dolphins, whales and porpoise.
  • We limit our number of sailings to the offshore grounds as we see these as a refuge for cetaceans. We utilised many years of our own experience establishing the optimum offshore cetacean grounds and we guard carefully against releasing such detailed locations to deter unscrupulous operators.
  • We recycle everything that we can, including all our office paper, plastic and glass.

We are keen to constantly develop our environmental policy and welcome any suggestions on things we could change or introduce.
